Credits & billing

How do credits work?

Every new account starts with 2,500 free credits — no credit card required. Credits are spent on the premium tiers (Quick, Balanced, and Think Deeper) when you generate a summary or chat with a video, a brain, or your library. How many a task uses depends on the tier you pick and the length of the video. TubeCortex Free never spends credits, so when your balance reaches zero the premium tiers lock until you top up and TubeCortex Free keeps working. Your current balance is shown in the top bar on a computer, or in the menu on your phone.

What is TubeCortex Free?

TubeCortex Free is a summary and chat option that costs nothing and never spends credits. The AI that writes your summaries and answers runs on our own servers rather than a third-party provider. Pick it in the model menu the same way you pick a tier. There are generous daily limits to stop one account tying up the hardware, and they reset at midnight UTC — normal use will not reach them.

How do I get more credits?

Click your credit balance to top up — it's in the top bar on a computer, and inside the menu on your phone. You can also connect your own API keys so AI usage runs on your provider account — chats and summaries are then free here, and only building a brain still uses credits.

Can I run TubeCortex on my own API keys (BYOK)?

Yes. Connect your own keys through OpenRouter on the Account page. TubeCortex then runs answers and summaries on your provider account with no platform fee — including the auto-summaries of new uploads. Building a brain still uses credits, because that indexing runs on our servers. If you stay on platform credits, an auto-summary costs the AI cost plus the standard summary fee.

Account & sign-in

It says my YouTube connection expired. How do I fix it?

When TubeCortex's access to YouTube expires, you'll see a Reconnect YouTube prompt. Click it and approve access again — your channels, library, and summaries stay exactly as they were.

How do I delete my account or my data?

You can remove individual summaries from your Library at any time. To delete your whole account, go to Account → Delete account, type your email to confirm, and it's done immediately — your chats, saved videos, brains, subscriptions and connected keys are erased and you're signed out. Billing records are kept (with your details removed) because we need them for accounting. If you'd rather we did it for you, email us from the address you signed in with.

Using TubeCortex

A summary failed to generate. What should I do?

Some videos can't be summarized — for example live streams, private or members-only videos, or videos that don't have a transcript available. Try a different video first. If a normal video keeps failing, email us the link and we'll look into it.

How do I get told about new uploads on Telegram?

Connect Telegram on the Autopilot page, then switch on alerts for the channels you want. New uploads from those channels are summarized automatically, and Telegram pings you with the video title, the channel name, and a link. The summary itself stays in TubeCortex — the ping is a doorbell, not a delivery.

What is a Creator Brain?

A Creator Brain indexes the videos you pick from a channel's back catalogue, so you can chat with it like someone who has watched them all — not just the one video in front of you. You can build one from the Brains page.

Can I choose which AI model is used?

You pick a quality tier rather than a named model: Quick, Balanced, or Think Deeper. Choose one per video, or set a default for automated channel summaries. Each tier runs on a leading model that we keep current for you, so you don't have to track which model is best this month. TubeCortex Free is the fourth option and costs nothing. If you want to name an exact model, connect your own OpenRouter key.

Privacy & data

Is my data private?

Yes. Your library, summaries, custom formats, subscriptions, and chats are private to your account by default. Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it.

How do I delete a saved summary?

Open the summary in your Library and remove it. Deleting it from your library removes it for you.
